It is a fact of life that many people do not enjoy going to the dentist. For some however, the very thought of seeing a dentist raises their heart rate. Many of the patients we see feel their fear of the dentist stems from negative childhood experiences. From their stories it often comes as no surprise that they are so scared of dental procedures. Since dental fear is a ‘learned’ behaviour, it can be equally be ‘unlearned’ with the right approach.
We are not here to judge you. Our aim is to help you to build your confidence so that you can become comfortable with dental treatment, by fostering a warm approach to treatment and creating a relaxed environment for our patients.
The majority of patients can overcome their fear through this approach. If this is not sufficient then we can discuss further options with you including the use of sedation.
